Which size should I choose, M or L?

Go by what your dog needs to climb. A sofa or bed is usually 40 to 50 cm, and the M covers that with its two height settings. An estate or hatchback boot is usually 60 to 75 cm and an SUV or van 75 to 90 cm, which is where the L belongs: it is 100 cm long with four settings, and the extra length keeps the slope gentle at those heights. If your dog uses both the sofa and the car, choose the L, since it can be set low as well as high.

Will my pet slip on it?

The surface is a scratch-resistant non-slip carpet, so paws grip going up and coming down. Raised wooden side rails run the full length of both edges, which gives a dog that drifts sideways something to register before a paw goes off the edge. The frame is edge-sealed and processed smooth, with no burrs along the sides.

Does it need assembly, and how do I store it?

No assembly. It arrives ready to use. The support leg folds flat against the panel on its hinges, so it stores against a wall or beside a cupboard rather than standing at full depth. The M weighs 3.1 kg and the L 4.6 kg, light enough to carry between rooms or out to the car.

What if my dog will not use it?

Most dogs will not walk up a ramp the first time they see one, and that is the normal starting point rather than a sign it was the wrong buy. Would steps work better than a ramp?

It depends on the dog. A ramp gives a continuous slope with no drop at the end, which matters most for a dog with joint discomfort, because the landing is the part that loads the joints. My dog has just started refusing the jump. Is a ramp the answer?
